Xin Heng Kee Chicken Rice (新兴记鸡鸭饭)

Looking for cheap and nice chicken rice stall? Here's my all time favourite! Roasted meat, char siew, chicken, 2 eggs, ToGan and 2 rice only costed us $9.50. Pek Kio Market has a lot of cheap and nice food! Popular stalls have long queue, please go there as early as possible. Carrot cake, prawn mee in the same row as Xin Heng Kee Chicken Rice's stall.

Victor's Kitchen at Sunshine Plaza

As a Cantonese, Dim Sum is my favourite Cantonese food! Saturday morning, having some time to spare before our movie starts, we walk to sunshine plaza Regal Restaurant Group (was known as Victor's Kitchen) from dhoby ghaut for breakfast. XO sauce steamed carrot cake is well known for many years, but the best thing there is their HK iced milk tea($3) - super pricey for a small serving but worth your money.

If you are looking for a better option to fix your Dim Sum crave, Swee Choon is a better choice.

Victor's Kichen (now known as Regel Restaurant Group) setting is not too good, air con water dripping and costs around $30 for 2 persons. Not worth it...

Seng Kee Black Herbal Chicken Soup

Craving for nice herbal soup on a cold night? Seng Kee Black Herbal Chicken Soup has the perfect soup base. Confirm Shiok! Love their mee sua soup. They have pig organs to go with the soup but I always order lean pork meat with mee sua. Been here many times - definitely a must-come-back place! It's very convenient by public transport. Alight at Kembangan MRT station, come out, turn left and just walk along the big "long kang" and there you are! :)

By the way we have some complaints regarding their China waitresses attitude.
1. They collect bill payment only when you started eating halfway. Typically, the acceptable practices are during serving the dishes or after finished the dishes.
2. They will put a plate of acar on your table and come by to collect payment shortly. When you clarify that you did not order the acar, they will rudely say that why you didn't inform earlier. Like you owe her a living by not paying her the acar you didn't order.
3. Every time you order coke light, they give you 豆奶.
4. Under-trained, rude and unhappy China staffs.

Despite all, we still keep coming back for their mee sua. The service used to be good with more Singapore staffs around.

China staffs attitude: 0/5 (they are able to make my good tempered husband and me angry)

GUIDE: How to go JB (Johor Bahru) from Singapore (Jurong East)

Yesterday, we decided to go for 2 day 1 night weekend trip to JB via 2nd link from Jurong East! Overall, it was a pleasant ride - no ridiculous waiting queues for bus, there were seats most of the time and no jams. Of course, timing to go and back to Singapore is important and luck.

Quick summary:
Jurong East to Bukit Indah (CW3 SGD$4)
Bukit Indah to Sutra (by taxi RM20)
Sutera to Jurong East (SL1 or CW3S RM6)

Saturday 1pm - just passport and a set of spare clothes, no advance booking of hotel; we were at Jurong East bus interchange queuing in the lane "CW3/CW4". Bought a bottle of 100plus beside the queue in case of the bus ride took too long and got thirsty.

* CW3 and CW4 both go to custom, you can take any one. Only when you reached Malaysia's custom then you have to take the correct CW bus.
* SGD$4 per person ticket can be bought just before you board the bus. Keep the tickets with you.
* We were going to Bukit Indah first.

After crossing Singapore and Malaysia customs, we were going to board CW3 to Bukit Indah - you can see the 3 lanes "1", "2" & "3" at the furthest part of bus terminal. After boarding the bus, we arrived Bukit Indah in 15mins where most people will alight there. Many taxi drivers will approach you. We took a cab RM20 to You Kee XO to have our favorite must-eat char siew. 2015/01/You-Kee-XO-char-siew.jpg

It was very difficult to get a cab to Sutera after we had the char siew. My husband hailed a cab in the middle of the road when red light. Not advisable - easier way is to download mobile app "Easy Taxi" or ask the restaurant to help you to call cab.

The hotels in Sutera rates start from RM118 for standard double room. We ended up in J Hotel - a themed hotel with rooms in different designs. Their prices start from RM138 to RM198. We took the bigger room - mini boutique room at RM198. We love it! 2015/01/J-Hotel-JB-Sutera.jpg

After washing up, we had coffee at "Just Want Coffee" and went to KTV "Loud Speaker" RM28 per pax for 3 hours session on Saturday night with free flow drink. 2015/01/just-want-coffee-sutera-jb.jpg

Around 9.30pm after our KTV session, we had our dinner at our favorite Japanese restaurant - Nijyumara Japanese Restaurant

* Hotel, KTV and Japanese Restaurant are all located in the same area. All walkable distance. Beside those places, there're massage places, shopping mall, facials, club, pubs, huge supermarket in the mall and a lot of food in Sutera area. On Sunday, we headed back to Singapore after lunch. Boarded SL1 from Sutera Mall at 1.40pm. You can take CW3S too. To double confirm, just check with bus driver. Here's the bus schedule outside Sutera Mall:

We arrived Singapore at 3.30pm. Quite a pleasant ride with seats and we were watching shows.. So time passed quickly :) Hope this guide gives you an idea how to get to Bukit Indah/Sutera :) If you have better way or tips, please share with me in the comment box.

Sin Heng Kee Porridge

Just had Sin Heng Kee Porridge this morning. Hearty Singaporean breakfast is what I love the most :) Sorry, I have never been a fan of western breakfast with bread.

My hubby had their signature porridge ($5) and I had their century egg with minced chicken and an egg ($4). Trying to cut down some calories intake by choosing minced chicken instead of pork. Y'know girls need to maintain a bit even after wedding heh!

My hubby loves their porridge because the texture of it is just nice, not too watery, not too dry. The taste of it has a bit of sweetness, not too plain.

JB Johor Bahru Restoran You Kee Xo

All my friends know that I'm obsessed with Malaysia JB You Kee Xo's CHAR SIEW! Beware, it is super addictive. After I have tried it for the first time, we went back there 3 times in 2 days! Brought quite a number of friends throughout this one year and they loved it!

Don't need to be char siew lover, I'm not a char siew lover too.. But their char siew is simply amazing!

China Whampoa Home Made Noodle

Are you a spicy lover? If yes, you should try this dry ban mian! If not, their soup based ban mian is good too! Lady boss is a thai and is the main chef there!

Their homemade chili is special, hardly find in other stalls.

My husband and I always order dry ban mian with fish and pork. Yummm :)
